A small ensemble illuminates eight short vignettes that center on laughter – what prompts it, what it can convey, and how we feel when we hear the different variations. Even before we acquire language, no matter where we live or how we speak, laughter can be an embellishment, punctuation, a way to share subtext or create collusion. Humans love to laugh, and studies have shown that we do it at least 17 times a day in about 10 different ways. This piece is an invitation to relax and enjoy the unfolding stories, hear the laughter, and see if you can identify all 10 varieties.
